Description

The Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) or Child Care Worker serves an important role by providing support for the nursing staff and teachers. The position assists with monitoring and supervising the children, and assisting the staff in maintaining a safe and positive environment.


Duties

  • Assist with the arrival and departure of children entering and leaving the center.

  • Check children’s bags as they arrive for notes/supplies/food sent in by the family and communicate findings with the nursing staff.

  • Store bags/coats at child’s labeled storage area and ensure that no items are placed/stored on the floor.

  • Daily assignment up to 3 children, and physical care of patients (feeding, diaper changes, etc). Consult with nursing staff for direction and assistance.

  • Actively engage children in age appropriate activities in consultation with staff and the daily schedule. Encourage children to socialize appropriately together.

  • Help the children during meals, clear food from tables after eating, and clean tables with appropriate cleaners.

  • Daily cleaning includes stripping all the children’s beds and laundering after nap time.

  • Perform duties as directed by teachers, nurses and/or administrator, within local, state and federal regulations.

  • Alert the nursing staff to emergencies.

  • Pack children’s bags and prepare for departure in consultation with nurses to determine which supplies need to return home with the child before child’s dismissal time.

  • Stock supplies. Alert teachers and nursing staff when supplies are running low.

  • Cultivate positive relationships with children, parents and guardians.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least one year of experience as a child care worker in a day care setting or as a pediatric CNA.

  • Basic computer literacy.

  • CNA Certification a plus (but not required).
